ABOUT THE PROVENANCE CHAMBER
Purpose
The original purpose clause of the ESCRITURA SOCIAL DE LA CAMARA DE COMERCIO DE LAS ISLAS FILIPINAS translated from Spanish:
- To promote and defend the material interest of the Philippine Archipelago and its inhabitants without distinction as to origin or class insofar as is compatible with the well being of the majority and with existing laws;
- The Chamber of Commerce, independent of any and all manner of political or other prejudices, shall assist upon invitation of authorities of the Philippine Government, adopt such measures to promote commerce as may be opportune;
- Intervene in the discussion of laws submitted to public debate as may affect commerce and industries related to it;
- Formulate before public authority such petition as may be occasioned thereby, in sum to utilize such legal measures as may be necessary to promote and advance commercial relations of the Philippines with other countries for the betterment of the situation of business in the archipelago.
