ACCOUNTABILITY FOR CORRUPTION IS A WHOLE-OF-NATION SHARED RESPONSIBILITY

As the provenance and oldest business institution founded in 1886, the Chamber of Commerce of the Philippine Islands (CCPI) calls for awakening, repentance, and righteousness NOW, FOR A BRIGHTER FUTURE, WHETHER ONE IS CORRUPTION CULPABLE, COMPLICIT, OR A BYSTANDER.
Accountability must be shared by all Filipinos in government, institutions (businesses, media, academe, religious, and associations), and the private sector. Ethical conduct is both a personal and national duty. A whole-of-nation accountability is essential to building a prosperous and globally respected country.
THE COST OF ENDEMIC AND SYSTEMIC CORRUPTION
In the 1960s, the Philippines ranked among Asia’s TOP economies in GDP Per Capita, second only to Japan. Today, endemic and systemic corruption has pushed us near the BOTTOM—resulting in loss of investments and jobs, weakened institutions, and eroded trust.
Ghost projects, overvalued and sub-standard public works, abuse of authority, PDAF clones, secrecy treatment of SALN, no swift oversight, and lackadaisical justice—all must end, else the country is unstable and internationally disrespected.
“NAVIGATING THE FUTURE” WITH ECOMP -P5
Drawing on its 139-year legacy, the Provenance Chamber—CCPI has crafted an Economic Compass Pillars 5 (ECOMP -P5) “Navigating the Future” as a continuing guide to revive and surpass our past prosperity. Each Pillar has a Compass and a set of dynamic Missions that needs to be actionized with resoluteness, vigilance and consistency today and in the coming years.
Pillar 1: The Filipino & Education – Compass: “Top of the World”
Pillar 2: Industries & Businesses – Compass: “Globally Competitive”
Pillar 3: The Government – Compass: “Good Governance with 12 Traits”
Pillar 4: Infrastructure & Environment – Compass: “Heaven on Earth”
Pillar 5: The Economy – Compass: Diverse, Self-Reliant, & Wealthy”
Two out of the five Missions under Pillar 3: The Government, call for vetting systems to ensure that only THE BEST OF CITIZENS—appointed or elected, can serve in public office and adhere to the 12 traits of good governance.
On 7 March, 2026, the ECOMP -P5 SYNERGY CONFERENCE shall be held, to be attended by THOUGHT LEADERS from Business, Academe, Government, and other sectors; the objective is to Actionize the Missions of each Pillar’s Compass (AM-PC) for strategic alignment and effective implementation.
To join as Thought Leader and know more about the Missions of ECOMP -P5, please register before December 05, 2025 at www.thechamber.ph. Thought Leaders are limited to 180 qualifying patriots.

The Chamber of Commerce of the Philippine Islands is the Provenance and the Oldest business institution in the Philippines, given Historical Markers by the NHCP in three languages, in recognition of its status since its founding through a Spanish Royal Decree on 9 April 1886.

In 2024, the Chamber printed the final version of its main Advocacy ECOMP-P5: Economic Compass Pillars 5, under the theme Navigating the Future, which aligns with the Chamber’s guiding principle: History Builds the Future. A pillar is structured around a compass with a set of dynamic missions that supports the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). (For a copy of ECOMP-P5, please email: secretariat@thechamber.ph)
