140 Years of CCPI: Navigating the Future with ECOMP-P5 Synergy Conference

Manila, Philippines— As it commemorates its 140th Founding Anniversary, the Chamber of Commerce of the Philippine Islands (CCPI)—the provenance and oldest business institution in the country, founded on April 09, 1886 by Royal Decree of Queen Regent Maria Cristina of Spain— will convene thought leaders from business, government, academe, and civil society for the 1st Economic Compass Pillars 5 (ECOMP -P5) Synergy Conference on 09 April 2026, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, at the University of the Philippines Campus, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

Anchored on the theme “Navigating the Future,” the conference serves as both a commemorative milestone and a solution-oriented platform, reaffirming CCPI’s 140-year legacy of shaping economic thought, policy dialogue, and nation-building.

The ECOMP -P5 framework is built on five Pillars and their respective compasses:
Pillar 1: The Filipino & Education, Compass: “Top of the World”
Pillar 2: Industries & Businesses, Compass: “Globally Competitive”
Pillar 3: The Government, Compass: “Good Governance with 12 Traits
Pillar 4: Infrastructure & Environment, Compass: “Heaven on Earth”
Pillar 5: The Economy, Compass: “Diverse, Self-reliant, Wealthy”
Each Pillar carries five Missions, with the conference designed to translate these Missions into concrete, actionable outcomes—a process CCPI calls Actionizing the Missions of each Pillar’s Compass (AMPC).
The ECOMP-P5 Synergy Conference is envisioned as a high-level, non-partisan forum that encourages cross-sectoral collaboration, strengthens shared accountability, and contributes to shaping a futureready, resilient Philippine economy.

The Chamber of Commerce of the Philippine Islands is the Provenance and the Oldest business institution in the Philippines, given Historical Markers by the NHCP in three languages, in recognition of its status since its founding through a Spanish Royal Decree on 9 April 1886.

In 2024, the Chamber printed the final version of its main Advocacy ECOMP-P5: Economic Compass Pillars 5, under the theme Navigating the Future, which aligns with the Chamber’s guiding principle: History Builds the Future. A pillar is structured around a compass with a set of dynamic missions that supports the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). (For a copy of ECOMP-P5, please email: secretariat@thechamber.ph)
