Statement of the Chamber of Commerce of the Philippine Islands on President Bongbong Marcos Jr.’s Cabinet revamp
The Provenance and oldest business institution in the country since 1886, emphasizes the need for the best of citizens to be in Government, whether appointed or elected. The move of President BBM to revamp the Cabinet based on performance evaluation is in accordance with the Chamber’s Economic Compass Pillars 5, particularly on:
Pillar 3: THE GOVERNMENT; Compass: “Good Governance with 12 Traits”
  1. Mission A: Best of Citizens Are In Government – The best qualified for government positions are methodically nurtured and flushed out based on a standard excellence template of qualifications that are verified for fair comparison among elected & appointed candidates, and regular performance accountability is conducted.
  2. Mission E: The 12 Traits of Good Governance – Based on the United Nations and aspirations of citizens, the following traits of Good Governance are in place and in practice:

The Chamber of Commerce of the Philippine Islands is the Provenance and the Oldest business institution in the Philippines, given Historical Markers by the NHCP in three languages, in recognition of its status since its founding through a Spanish Royal Decree on 9 April 1886.

In 2024, the Chamber printed the final version of its main Advocacy ECOMP-P5: Economic Compass Pillars 5, under the theme Navigating the Future, which aligns with the Chamber’s guiding principle: History Builds the Future.
