Catalyst for Economic Leadership

During the American period, the Chamber led efforts to revive Philippine commerce, promote local industries globally, and secure fair trade policies. It represented the country at the 1904 St. Louis World Exposition, published COMMERCE as the “Voice of Business,” and successfully petitioned for the 1909 Philippine-U.S. Fair Trade Agreement. Through trade missions and campaigns like “Ours First, Yours Later” and “Made in the Philippines Week,” the Chamber helped elevate the Philippines as a regional economic leader and the “Pearl of the Orient.”
